INTRODUCTION

You have selected this course of study to enhance your knowledge regarding the Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (2005), (HTSUS), Code of Federal Regulations (Customs Regulations) 19 USC 1930, (CFR) and common business terms.

If you may be taking this course to order to better prepare yourself for the Customs Broker’s License Exam you will find this course invaluable. On the other hand, if you are just taking this course to enhance your knowledge of Customs matters, you will find this course most beneficial.

In order to start you must have Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (2005), (HTSUS), and Code of Federal Regulations (Customs Regulations) 19 USC 1930, (CFR), revised as of April 1, 2005.

There are four sections of study. Each section of study starts with a set of educational objectives. Educational objectives are the paths within the learning process. An objective is a statement describing what you will add to your knowledge bank. You will find these objectives will help you to interact with the subjects of each section. Along with your study guide, you receive a set of instructions for Section One.

Follow these instructions, from time to time you may not understand a question or some of the material if so just e-mail the instructor for explanation. He will normal response within 24 hours. Upon completing each section you will be tested to determine if you have reached the objectives of that section. Upon completing a question or the exam after each section’s test check your answer(s) using the keys in the back of the study guide.

Again if you do not understand how that answer is arrived at e-mail the instructor for an explanation. The instructor will work with you for one year from the date of the order.

SECTION ONE INSTRUCTIONS

First review the "Table of Contents" note that after each subject is a number. This number denotes how many exam questions concerning that subject were on the last two exams.

The Study Guide is set up in the same order as the Customs Regulations (CFR), with the exception the first chapter, "Classification Made Simple" which is covered in Section Two Instructions. You will not that the instructions move around within the Study Guide, this is done for your best understanding of the material.

Let's start with notes that you can use during the exam.
